Hello. I'm hoping to not get gaslit on my experience and I'm really seeking help. I just don't know who to reach out to, or who to work with because everyone seems to say my situation is not possible.
I've been following Joette since she first began with WAPF. I've been using homeopathy for over 20 years, in acute situations. I finally dove into learning and went thru GGBG, Allergies and also started the survivalist course.
To cut to the chase I started with the lyco+arse protocol. After maybe a week I was experiencing a weird cough but did not feel sick. Then a slight burning in my chest. Long and short of it is, I really dove into the materia media and realized maybe I was aggravating so stopped. The cough went away. I tried them again and the chest thing came back. so I knew it was the remedies but didn't know where to go from here.
Around the same time I started the bovista allergy protocol. Now it's important to say that I feel really, really good. I've accomplished so much for my health over the last 20 years just from diet, lifestyle and functional medicine type approaches. I only started these protocols because I had a few lingering (though very, very mild) issues, that in all reality I could have left alone and been fine. Really I feel great, so why did I try and 'fix what wasn't totally broken'. Like Joette says, there is no 'perfect'.
While on bovista, maybe a few weeks in, I used an essential oil formula around my eyes and had a horrendous allergic reaction. I've never had a reaction like that. My eyes were swollen like golf balls and the skin slightly burned. I wasn't really sure how to address it, but suffice to say I healed in about a week. But I stopped the bovista during this week because I just didn't know what remedies to take for the eyes.....should it be treated like a burn, or anaphylactic type reaction, etc. It was bad and I wasn't sure so I did nothing.
When it healed I went back on Bovista. Within maybe a week or so (I'd have to look back at my notes, and they're not with me now) I began getting a rash on my face. Well, that was December 2024 and it is now Sept 2025. I've been dealing with what I have self diagnosed as Peri-oral dermatitis, possibly fungal related because it responds best to avoiding things that supposedly feed fungal POD (oils, esters, etc). I was still taking the bovista until January when I finally read the materia media and about lost it. OMG, what I read described my face; scurf and crusts round the nostrils and corners of mouth, and of course it mentions eczema. SO, I realized this was coming out from the bovista and I'd been taking it maybe 6 weeks. Yikes. So I did camphor, etc. and, well, I still have this.
Ok, so is it aggravation, proving, suppression? UGH, I don't know. But I do know this is from Bovista. I just know. There is no coincidence an I'm very, very intune with my body and intuition.
I've never had eczema like this....or ecezma really. Or maybe I have? Dairy would make my hands dry and my thumbs a little peely.....never itchy, never red, never inflamed. So is that eczema? I'd say sort of.
I HAVE had a little irritated batch right at opening of nostril sometimes, that I think was related to dairy consumption as well. But on scale of 1-10, it was barely a 1. But these were the things I thought maybe bovista would resolve over time given I saw a correlation with food.
SO, I'm stuck. I can't believe this happened because I've never had a skin issue like this before. It's horrible. It's also around my eye and my skin will get random cystic like pimples too. This is not my normal or my past.
Most homeopaths who have commented on this experience try and tell me it's coincidental and that when you stop a remedy the reaction goes away. I'm telling you it did not, and I know it came on with bovista. Even just reading about the plant in general, it's like it's all right there.
How do you feel about this? Would you be willing to take me on? Do you think I'm crazy too, and if so I'll cancel my membership now. This is freaky and scary and from my digging, I do think has happened to many people using practical homeopathy. They get gaslit too and eventually leave the fb groups....likey in search of answers.

Hello Lisa! I sure hear your frustration, loud and clear! Of course homeopathic medicines can cause issues. Bovista was not 'the one' for me either. I had intensified allergic reactions while taking it. LycoArs wasn't the one for me either. Those are great remedies for a lot of people, but certainly not everyone. I ended up using Merc Sol 6C as a primary for my food allergies. Which, as I've written about, I didn't connect at the time to all the mercury in my mouth! (And I would certainly ask you if you have mercury fillings or root canals.) Regardless, those are just a few homeopathic medicines out of thousands. And yes, particularly with skin (and there are many cases of this going back to Burnett and Shepherd's days), treating a condition-- even unrelated to the skin-- could result in a skin condition coming out or coming forward. This was always looked at as a positive (the opposite of driving it deeper!), but I don't of any person who thinks it's a good thing in the moment! Typically this would be looked at as revealing a suppression. It is true that, normally, if something is caused by a remedy it will go away when stopped. But if an underlying condition or layer has been revealed then that layer is asking for healing, in my opinion, and I would work with the current picture as it is. There's much more I could write and ask, but it's very hard to be thorough in this format. I would recommend you do get some help with your case. Even just a consultation or two can make a world of difference. I can't know anything for sure, based on only the above, of course; however, I do know homeopathy, and I know there is almost always a solution. Oh, and no I do not have metal in my mouth. Had those removed many, many years ago. I've done metal detoxes, I use a sauna space sauna regularly, I get morning sunrise every day, block blue at night, eat really, really clean, (did gaps years ago and don't have diet dogma now, just for clean food) and worked as a nutrition and lifestyle coach and CHEK practitioner for years. I'm really well versed in all things health, fitness, wellness, functional medicine, etc. This is the first time I've ever been handed something I feel is well out of my knowledge base on what to do, so it's crazy! My kids are 16 and 19 and completely Pharma free, so I've been in this world for a LONG time! which is what makes this situation so amazingly wild, crazy, frustrating and also intriguing! Thank you so very much for this reply. My instinct was correct in reaching out. I had a feeling I'd get a reasonable response without judgement and gaslighting. And my gut has also told me I've uncovered something. But in this world of homeopathy where everyone has their way of doing things, and many slam the perspective and approach of those doing it differently than them, it's hard to know where to turn and who to trust. I mean from practical to classical, to fibonacci homochords, to all the various teachers out there with their spin; no one agrees and many pretty vehemently disagree. It's quite sad and I think sends homeopathy backwards in some ways. And it's funny, my situation proves to me even more that it works, LOL. Meaning it has an effect. But the up and down to get to resolution or at least comfort and improvement, is not easy and hard to navigate when every other homeopath says their way is right and everyone else is wrong. Anyway, really appreciate you hearing this and giving me hope that this can be worked on in the right hands.
I totally agree there is too much divisiveness. Ultimately, pretty much everyone is 'right', because homeopathy is so flexible that you can work with it and get results in just about any way you choose. I do have my preferences, based on experience, but the learning is never done. Many of the blanket statements that people make aren't 'truth'- and we know this because other homeopaths get results using 'opposite' methods. Like 'Classical vs Banerji Protocols'. Let's just discover what works, directly, test it out, and take the best from wherever it comes. Glad to have you as a subscriber and so happy that are on this path! I have a question, and it may be a larger topic so if you don't want to answer here or if the info is coming up in a future post, that's fine. I was looking into purchasing Tuberculinum from the Banerji protocol for IBS, and I noticed that at some pharmacies it was listed as a prescription only remedy. This was also true for some other remedies, like Carcinosin, Psorinum, Bacillinum, and Bowel Nosodes. Is there a reason that some remedies would be prescription only? Are these somehow more dangerous, or do they interact with other remedies, or something? I was just curious :) Thanks for your information and education!
Also, remember how incredibly dilute these nano-medicines are. They only gently stimulate the system to correct. They do not cause disease and have never killed anyone!
I'm curious which pharmacies are doing that. I have yet to see that yet with any of the places I order from. But there's been a lot of battling going on in the political sphere over homeopathy (for years). 'They' nearly killed homeopathy in the US in the earlier 1900s and would love to do it again. One of the main tactics is to make it harder to get the remedies.
To answer you, in short, the so-called nosodes are no different in terms of how we use them, risk, or anything like that. I have used them myself and regularly use with clients all of the ones you mentioned. They are excellent homeopathic medicines. The 'nosode' title only refers to what they are made from as a category (diseased tissue), versus say minerals, animals, venoms, plants, intangibles, etc. There is also a lot of talk in the homeopathy world about using nosodes for 'miasms' and other complex topics. I'm sure over time I'll write about some of this, but for most people it's just not necessary info.
It's like 'cell salts' confuse people too. They are just homeopathic medicines and can can be used in all the potencies like any other homeopathic remedy. The 'cell salts' are just a categorizing name of the 12 main salts that our bodies use (as per Schussler).
So, especially with the Banerji Protocols, we just follow them and observe. They've done all the clinical work for us (diagnosis to medicine selections).
Thanks! Yes, it does! I was looking at different pharmacies because Tubrculinum was not on Amazon or Boiron or Ollois, and I found it on Castle Remedies which is based out of Michigan. They had a BUNCH of cool remedies I had heard of but not seen anywhere, but many of them were prescription only. It just made me curious and a little aprehensive. Thanks again for the reply!
Just to add, Amazon does have tuberculinum, psorinum, carcinosin, medorrhinum etc. I see the Urenus brand right now is available (the brown tubes with white caps), which I own and works just fine. Also, if not in a rush, my favorite pharmacy is Helios from the UK. Great value and more remedies than any other company I know of.
Thanks! I had found Helios, but good to know Urenus is fine to use too. I had seen them on Amazon but wasn't sure what to look for to make sure these were ok to order. I had seen Ollois and Boiron in stores, so I knew they were legit.

I have almost no experience with homeopathy and I think I have experienced both a proving and an aggravation already- I must be great at choosing remedies (not really)! I wasn't 100% on what had happened, but your descriptions seem to fit my situation. I proved Sulphur after a couple of doses by developing raw skin patches on my face that resolved a day or two after I stopped the Sulphur. And I started taking Lycopodium + Arsenicum for my IBS and after a week or so had a flare up of belly pain like I hadn't had in years, since I changed my diet. It flared up the one time without any explanation and then went away. So weird! I appreciate all the education you're providing!
The good news with provings and aggravations is no harm done! Don't ever use it to judge yourself. No matter how experienced you get with homeopathy these events will still happen. It's all just feedback and information. I'll be writing much more about Sulphur in the next article on suppressions. It's an interesting one that can cause issues (exactly like you had) in some people! Just keep going and don't ever be afraid to pivot. It can sometimes take a lot of tries to hit on the right thing.
